Yarmouth is a provincial electoral district in Nova Scotia, Canada, that elects one member of the Nova Scotia House of Assembly. It consists of the Municipality of the District of Yarmouth and the town of Yarmouth. Fishing and fish processing continue to drive the economy here, although tourism and small manufacturing are now also employers. The largest town in the district is Yarmouth.
A byelection was held on June 22, 2010,[1] to elect a new MLA for the riding, which has been vacant since February 9, 2010, when Richard Hurlburt resigned as MLA.[2]
For over a decade, it has been one of the safest seats in the province for the Progressive Conservatives, having elected a representative of that party since 1999, including the 2009 election when the PCs won only 10 of 52 seats.
